Described, by Janice Robinson in this weekend’s FT as “real value under ten pounds”.
She goes on to say; “Very light and flirtatious…..” (How in the heck can a wine be flirtatious???)…….“More transparent and racy than many South African Chenins. Although there is some light green apple and honey flavour, there is no sweetness. Admirable grip on the palate. 14%”.
Now who cares about her choice of prose, but the fact that she is punting a Jordan wine, even if described as a bargain, is a good thing. It introduces drinkers to South African Chenin, which is very quaffable, and it is being marketed to the newly poor who still stump up a bob or two to read the FT, and would appreciate a quality wine at a recessionary friendly price.
