100th Anniversary Titanic dinner. The video.

A great event that raised R130,000 for the NSRI wouldn’t be complete without a video to record it.
Funny that some of the guests seemed to think that Titanic was a movie, and not an actual historical event.
Oh well…. money raised is money raised – and at the time of writing it’s tipping over the R130.000 [...]

Horseradish.

My favourite new product of recent times is Prepared Horseradish from a company called Finos.
I met the owner, Martin Wickman, recently, at The Taste of Cape Town and was really impressed with the quality and pureness of his products.
Martin hails from Sweden, and lived in Zimbabwe for 25 years before relocating here five years ago. [...]

Tea and coffee in 90 seconds.

But it’s not all looks. The cakes are delicious, and ingredients are of top quality. [...]

The poor dears, as if they haven’t gotten enough of our attention through their TV shows, cooking utensils and cookery books, they are now screaming for more by appearing in celebrity art.
Leading the way in South Africa is Cape Town based artist and foodie, Alex Hamilton.
Working from his airy, loft style studio [...]

President Obama’s addiction.

Four years ago, while out on the campaign trail, a Seattle based staff member of Obama’s team presented him with a box of Smoked Salt Caramels made by Fran’s Chocolates of Seattle.
Now they are the chocolate of choice in the White House, and will be the treat you will be handed when visiting Barack, as [...]

Eat my bunch – edible herbal bouquets.

When I saw this bunch of edible herbs for sale I couldn’t resist buying them. What a lovely idea. They smell great, and make a really interesting arrangement, not your usual flowers.
Where the herbal bouquet makes a real impact is as a gift. You need to remind the receiver that the bunch is edible, so please don’t just throw [...]
