Our panel of Taste Buddies is comprised of a kitchen full of housewives and professional women who have kids of varying ages. 

We taste blind, meaning we have no idea who the producer of a particular product is. 

Here is a summary of the results based on average rankings, price and our Taste Buddy comments on each product. 

Woolworths, R6.95, “So so”, “a bit salty”.Overall rating 4/10 

Heinz, R7.69.”OK”, “Sweet”,”Nice”, Good tomato flavour”.Overall rating 6/10 

Whole Earth, R25.00. “Sweet n’spicy”, Good tomato taste”,”Nice flavour”. Overall rating 7/10 

Farmgirl, R5.29. “Disgusting”, “Yeuuch”,”Not nice”, “Very artificial”, “Unappetising”. Overall rating 1/10 

Koo, R6.49, “Bland”, “Not nice”,”Visually unappealing”,Overall rating 3.5/10 

All Gold, R8.99. “Aftertaste unpleasant”,”Too sweet”,”Yucky odour”. Overall rating,4/10 

The winner on taste criterion was Whole Earth, which got 7 out of 10. It is priced at R25. 

Hot on its heels was Heinz, coming in at 6 out of 10, and priced at R7.69. So the clear winner, based on value for money and taste, is Heinz. I guess you could say Beanz Meanz Heinz!
