Lamb masala roti
Suzi Holtzhausen is a culinary star in Paternoster. Prior to settling there she has had a multitude of experiences in the restaurant industry, mostly based in Johannesburg. And now, luckily for visitors and locals, she has decided to settle in Paternoster.
We had lunch in Suzi’s eatery, located on the main road as you drive into Paternoster. She also runs Gaaitjie, further on down on the beach.
With the help of Thombelina, and Angus the terrier, she serves breakfasts and light lunches. I loved my sardines on toast with a

tomato and onion salad. You can also try fish cakes with spinach, poached eggs and red pepper mayo.
The usual bacon and egg traditional type dishes are also available.
Light lunches are on offer; chicken and herb sausage rolls or smoked snoek and sweet potato samosas with a tamarind sauce.
The Eatery is a pleasant place to have a pitstop for a snack. The food is light, tasty and well prepared and presented.
My partner tried the lamb masala roti wrap. It looked and tasted delicious, the right mixture of roti spice and lamb flavour.
All the main courses are light, but substantial enough to get you through the day and leave you hungry for an evening meal.
Just note a house rule not to feed Angus the dog….he can be very persuasive, and has been known to outstare the hardest of hearts into submission.
