The Nook Eatery is one of those indispensable places that every city, little town and village in South Africa should have.
Everything is homemade, organic or free range wherever possible, freshly made in their own kitchens and served up by staff that seem to care about what they do.
That makes a difference. You need to be able to trust a place when you go in and eat. You quickly get a vibe, there’s no placard outside proclaiming “You can trust what you eat in this establishment and the people who work here”.
That’s not a bad idea, but it wouldn’t work, would it?
How about this for a breakfast a friend had recently; Baked Eggs with Gruyere Cheese, Wild Rocket, Flapjacks with Cherries, Crème Fraiche, Apples and Ginga Compote with Yoghurt and Toasted Oats.
I’d walk back to Cape Town after that.
Or how about the lunch special for today, the day I am writing, Lamb Bobotie, Roast Vegetables, Organic Lentils, Roast Beetroot and Fine
Bean Salad, Mushroom with Cinnamon and Lemon, Green Salad.
The day I was there I started with a smoothie so thick and laden with fruit that you could have stood a soup spoon in it. It was delicious.
French toast with maple syrup and crispy bacon followed. Epic.
A couple of freshly baked croissants accompanied a steamy, milky, latte coffee.
It set me up for the day.
Breakfast R22-R40. Lunch R30-R50. Buffet R13 per 100g.

This place looks so amazing! So is the coffee amazing? Can’t wait to try it.
The coffee is excellent, but even better with one of their pastries.
Luke is amazing.
