Interesting to see what the Kiwi’s have come up with in a 9% ABV wine spritzer aimed at the female market.
Described as “Happiness in a Bottle”, Ritzling is a low alcohol riesling spritzer drink with a twist of citrus juice.
I like the approach. It redefines how wine is traditionally drunk and aims in a very unapologetic way at a particular segment.
Will the women of New Zealand like it? Initial sales results have been good, but there may be a bit of pipeline filling here.
Summer is about to kick in over in NZ, and with it the great outdoor life they have, and lots of open air quaffing by the ladies.
I love the packaging. The name is a bit naff but hey, let’s see if it works.
Last week we held our pre judging tastings in Cape Town for the 100 Women 100 Wines competition (the finals are on the 27th)
30 women from the wine world blind tasted just under two hundred wines. You’d be amazed at what they rejected and what they liked.
One of the most popular was 4 Cousins, an 8% juice and wine mix. There were some surprised expressions when they saw what they
had been drinking. The point is that some of the sweeter wines did brilliantly.
More after the finals of the 100 Women 100 Wines competition on the 27th.
