Any old excuse to get out to Noordhoek and eat Franck Dangereux’s food. This occasion was the launch of their winter menu.
Franck and his team are pairing their food with Nitida wines from Durbanville. Nitida, as some of you might remember, is home to the Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year, RJ Botha.
The combinations are lovely, food as fresh as the day is young, accompanied by Franck’s trademark unctuous and tasty sauces.
Fish poultry and meats all combine into taste sensations when combines with the wines (semillon, sauvignon blancs, cabernet sauvignon blanc and red and white blends).
You can pay for a bottle if you have a preference. They set you back from R123 for one of the whites to 180 for one of the blends.
A carafe is a third of a bottle and costs just a third of the total price. Or you can opt for the 3,4 or 5 course pairing menu which offers stunning value for R165 for three courses, 185 for 4 courses or 215 for 5 courses.
This is unbeatable value, and is on offer every day except Sunday.
Here’s the gen directly from Franck’s menu.

Absolutely wonderful food at rock bottom prices!!!!!!!!
had a really terrible meal there the other day – lamb cutlets, in what should have been a reduced red wine jus, was sticky – indicating the use of flour to thicken & kind of grey & boring. what are people raving about? just not good enough!
I think you must have been at a different restaurant!!Franck’s sauces are his signature. I am so sorry you had a bad experience. Give it another try.
I agree Jenny. Franck has never gotten his sauces wrong during all my visits there.
