I came across this great little gadget recently.
It makes fully frozen ice lollys in 7 minutes. That’s right, 420 seconds. What normally takes hours now takes minutes.
I know it’s winter in South Africa, and we’re feeling the cold in Cape Town, but it’s summer in the northern hemisphere, and this device has taken the market by storm.
The moulds are made from non stick aluminium, and it comes with a few sticks for insertion into the juice. What I love about it is the fact that you can freeze fresh juice, which normally it goes brown and oxidises as it freezes so slowly.
All you do is put the device in the freezer and let the encased secret space age liquid freeze up. Ready for action.
You can keep the kids happy all day as they play, but even more interestingly it will make great alcoholic ice pops for the adults.
What’s that? Great alcoholic ice pops for adults!
Interested now?
So, here’s my recipe for Frozen Margarita Cocktail Ice Pops.
1/4 Cup sugar.
3/4 Cup fresh lime juice.
1/2 Cup water.
2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice.
2 Tablespoons fresh orange juice.
2 Tablespoons Tequila. (Jose Cuervo is good)
2 Tablespoons Grand Marnier.
Salt crystals – Malden is best.
Mix it all up, pour into moulds, let freeze, dip the edge in salt prior to sucking on it.
Enjoy.
The question is; Where am I going to get this device for November? I think I feel an e.mail coming on to the good folk in Yuppiechef.

Where did you buy this Clare, and how much did it cost?
Well that’s just the point Nicolette, I want the guys over at Yuppichef to do the legwork for me and find this little thingy. I believe they are about 50 Dollars US and about 40 Pounds Sterling. So I’d expect it to come in here in South Africa at about R500.
I want one! Thank you for sharing this, I am going to try and buy one online.
