It’s that time of year again – and one of the most unique cultural events in South Africa takes place on the Solms Delta Estate, Franschhoek, on March 24th.
Celebrate the end of harvest with Franschhoek Oesfees, which starts at 10am and goes on until 9pm in the evening.
Tickets cost R130, or you can get the early bird rate of R95. Kids are welcome, and there’s a supervised Kiddies Area.
Artists playing this year are the legendary David Kramer, Theuns Jordaan, Emo Adams and Chris Chameleon.
What’s unique about the Oesfees is that you can go and experience and listen to music and entertainment that has been born of the winelands and the culture of the people who work there and make up the community.
Homegrown acts include the Delta Valley Entertainers, Delta Vastrap Genootskap, Delta Optel band, Lekker Lekker Delta, Delta Langbroeke and the Soetstemme.
Food and drink will be there in abundance, and you generally just kick back, enjoy the vibe as pretty much all musical tastes will be catered for. You’ll enjoy the sounds of Ghoema, Cape Jazz, Langarm, Vastrap and even Boeremusiek.

Clare, what is the policy for bringing dogs with? I have a small friendly sausage dog called Marty who is really no trouble at all. He has been neutered and has a strong stomach. I take him everywhere with me in a converted shopping basket as he gets very lonely if I leave him in my flat in Seapoint. Do you think I could bring him with?
Dot, the official policy is No Dogs ……….
