The ANC, if you haven’t heard, is 100 years old this year.
As part of the celebrations a commemorative range of celebration wines has been produced. Not whisky, not cognac, and not champagne, but wine. South African wine. Sourced from 10 wine producing regions.
A variety of limited edition wines (sourced from 10 grape growing regions) have been created to commemorate the centenary. All are individually labeled, numbered and packaged to celebrate Unity in Diversity.
South African artists were commissioned to produce paintings which were reproduced as labels for the range.
There are three elements to the range.
The first is three ‘generic’ wines, a Sauvignon Blanc, a red blend and an MCC. They cost R100, R120 and R140 respectively.
The second is a range of reds and whites, consist wines made from Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, a Red Blend, Pinot Noir and Merlot grapes.
The whites cost R3,000 per bottle and the reds R4,000. Must be pretty good stuff.
The third element is a range of special sizes (magnums, 3l, 9l and 15l bottles) which are being sold and auctioned with the paintings of the labels.
And to enter into the spirit of the celebrations we are running a competition to to find two wine tasters.
One in Johannesburg (or region) and one from Cape Town.
All you have to do is to drop me a line on clare@spill.co.za and tell me why you would make a good taster.
The best two answers will each receive a gift pack containing the Sauvignon Blanc, the red blend and the MCC.
