My favourite food and drink festival last year was Constantia Fresh.
It’s relaxed, in a beautiful setting, and the quality of the food and drink are top class. This all leads to a chilled experience and none of the usual crowding and shoving you get at some events.
It’s happening again this year on March 1st and 2nd.

March 1st sees founder Jorg Pfutzner host a dinner prepared by Peter Templehoff of The Greenhouse. The food will be paired with top quality wines, South African, French and Italian. This meal will will be a gourmands delight, and numbers will be limited. Tickets cost R1,500. The main event takes place on the 2nd, a Saturday, and takes place on the lawns of Buitenverwachting, where guests can wander around, tasting wines and sampling the food from some of South Africa’s best chefs. As the evening sets in and the sun dips behind the mountain, a braai will fire up, and the atmosphere gets even more relaxed as live music commences. Tickets for this event are R400 each. We’re giving away a pair, worth R800. All you have to do is e.mail me on clare@spill.co.za and give me the english translation of Buitenverwachting. simple. First correct answer gets the tickets.
