Last year we re-posted Claire Gunn's blog on Akasha Mountain Retreat. Her photographs were incredible, and we just can't get enough. That's why we've created not one, but two Steller Stories about this magical destination. Take a look!
One of South Africa's hottest photographer, Claire Gunn, visits Akasha Mountain Retreat near Heidelberg. What she captures is incredible.
Akasha is probably one of the most beautiful places on this earth – it is not easy to describe with words the magnitude of the landscape and its’ views and the impact that much open space can have on you.
If you have been caught up in daily city life and you arrive at Akasha you might shed a tear of relief as the mountain greets you and bathes you in the tranquility of Nature and her calming rythms.
The look and feel of the house is Cape – Maroc which is inspired by the travels of owners Chris and Elana. Many of the pieces in the house have been brought back from Morocco and give the interior an exotic luxury air.

Steenberg is the Capes’ oldest farm, established in 1682 by the enigmatic Catherina who was the first woman land owner in South Africa. Situated against the mountains in Tokai, the views of the Cape are close enough to marvel at, but far enough to feel like you are away from the city and enjoying the peace of a luxury mountain-side resort.
